McKinley Chapter is collaborating with the Northern Ohio Chapter for our February Technical Meeting. We will be hosting a lunch and learn session on boiler explosions on February 20 at noon EST presented by Victor Casada of Zurich Services Corporation.
Victor Casada is a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant with Zurich North America and has been in the boiler and pressure vessel industry for 35 years. He has worked for several insurance companies and is a National Board commissioned inspector who has met the education, experience, employment, and examination requirements as outlined in NB-263, RCI-1, Rules for Commissioned Inspectors. Casada spent 11 years in the U.S. Navy – two years enlisted, four as a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy, earning a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, and five years as an officer.
Victor will present a story of a catastrophic boiler explosion that resulted in a tragic death. He will share his experience in dealing with a wrongful death lawsuit, a legal action where his employer was named as defendants. Victor’s presentation is an overview of the process of testifying in a high-stakes deposition and on how the event impacted the way he conducts business every day.
